Cherish - 12" X 12" Prima Royal Menagerie Layout

I couldn't resist using this photo for this layout, those golden tresses provided the perfect focal point, staggered over three round doilies. I used some Gabrielle Pollaco stamps on the background to add some depth, and splattered some Prima Frost Pearl Spray to this paper from the Prima Royal Menagerie collection.

Using a Prima Stencil I added some Golden Molding Paste which I coloured with some Twisted Citron and Picked Raspberry  Tim Holtz Distress Ink.
I sprayed some chipboard pieces with Blue Fern Studios Cotton Candy Spray Mist to add as embellishments along with some blue flat back pearls and clear irridescent sequins.

I also sprayed the word Cherish with the Blue Fern Studios Cotton Candy Spray Mist and topped it with some Rangers Glossy Accents and added some pretty Prima flowers for a finishing touch.

Be A Mermaid - 12" X 12" Blue Fern Studios Timeless Layout

It's that simple....at least to a 4-year-old little girl. You want to be happy, just be a mermaid! Laila loves to play dress-up, and I love the photo opportunities!

In this layout I used the beautiful Blue Fern Studios Timeless paper collection as well as a couple of calling cards from the collection. I didn't want to completely cover the lovely graphics of the paper so all I added to the background was some Stampendous Shabby Pink Frantage Embossing Enamel.

I accented the layout with some chipboard pieces that I covered  with some Shimmerz PaintsTexturez in Crushed Coral, some Prima flowers and a few tiny bling strips.

Adore - Altered Frame

The title says it all! This is my 4-year-old granddaughter's first school picture, she started Pre-K this year, and she's growing up way too fast!

I prepped my frame with some Deco Arts Americana Oak Gel Stain and added a single layer of  Americana Dura Clear Polyeurathane Gloss Varnish. I didn't want a super glossy surface but wanted a layer of protection so I can easily wipe the frame clean.

Once the frame was dry I added some Prima Adhesive Rub-Ons and Holographic Dreams Rub-On Foil. They are so simple and fun to use, and adhered quite easily to the wooden frame.

I added the chipboard word piece "adore" that I painted with some Jaquard Lumiere Metallic Bronze Paint, it coordinated well with the tones of the stained frame and the lovey rub-ons.

A small Prima flower vine adorns the bottom left side of the frame to add some colour and compliment the overall classy look of the frame.

Poppa's Girl

I wanted to do a layout that had accented both the feminine and masculin sides of this picture of our granddaughter with her Poppa, she loves riding with him in the back yard on the ATV every chance she gets, she's been doing so since she was a baby.

I used some papers from the Sanctuary collection by Blue Fern Studios for both the background and to fussy cut to use on the top and bottom left-hand side of this layout.

I splattered some white paint and added a beautiful doily as a base for the photo. I used some Pearl Ex  powdered pigment in Interferance Red to pain the lovely chipboard corner pieces that frame the photo so beautifully.

The various Prima flowers add a soft touch and really pop against the dark background, as do the cut birdcage and flower pieces.

Watercolourings

Sue Coccia's Woodland Critters "Adult Colouring Book" is printed on 80-lb watercolour paper. It takes watercolor well, but you do still have to be careful, especially when you're doing a wash, but overall I quickly learned the limitations of paint/water ratio this paper is capable of withstanding, and practice is what it takes to get familiar with your art supplies.

Here are some of the other prints I have completed from this Aboriginal artist's collection, I absolutely LOVE working with this book and have already purchased others.

Check out her website

L'aigle

Le Chevreuil

Le Renard
(a little too much water on the tail here made things a tad messy)

Le Colibris

Le Pic-bois
(I absolutely LOVE the colours I was able to bring out on that log!)

 Le Lievre
Le Ratton-Laveur
(doesn't he look like he's ready for mischief? Look at that face!)

Le Papillon Lune
(The green tones in this one are stunning!)

There are so many more colouring books AND watercolour books (and various art supplies) that I'd love to get as I get more comfortable with watercolours, so I thought I'd share my Amazon "wish list" so you can see what I've got my sights set on ;)

I'll be posting a tutorial on how I use the Distress Inks to colour these images soon, so keep an eye out for that!
